- The British shifted their capital from Calcutta to Delhi in the year 1911. Then the Viceroy’s House was built by cutting the hills of Raisina, which we know today as Rashtrapati Bhavan.
- Its design was prepared by the British architect Edwin Lutyens.Spread over 15 acres, this garden is called the “soul” of Rashtrapati Bhavan.
- Sir Lutyens’ wife had described this garden as a “paradise”.
- There are about 159 varieties of roses here.
- Here the names of roses are named after famous personalities like Mother Teresa, Abraham Lincoln, Jawahar.
- Till now this garden was opened only once a year. This is the first time that it has been opened to the public twice.

For entry into this garden, you can book tickets online by visiting Rashtrapati Bhavan’s website visit.rashtrapatibhavan.gov.in/. If desired, tickets can also be taken from the kiosk machine installed in Rashtrapati Bhavan. Along with Amrit Udyan, tourists can also visit Rashtrapati Bhavan Museum by booking their slots online.
The garden will be open for special teachers on September 5.
Please tell that this garden will remain closed on Monday. But on the occasion of Teacher’s Day on 5th September, especially teachers will be given anti here.

If you want to visit Amrit Udyan, then you have to take entry from gate number 35 near North Avenue. Here entry is available only in 6 slots from 10 am to 4 pm. Those booking tickets online will have to show the digital visitor card. Apart from the visitor pass, it is also necessary to show government ID. It is to be noted that the slot in which you will book, you will have to enter at the same time. In any case, there is no system of entry before or after this.
These things cannot be taken in the park-
- This garden remains very clean, so no visitor can spread dirt here. This is the reason why people cannot take food items here.
- Video cameras, cigarettes, paan, gutkha are not allowed inside. There is also no permission to carry any weapon.
- While mobile phones, electronic keys, water bottles and baby milk bottles can be taken inside.
