The Bhimbetka Rock Shelters is an archaeological site that shows the earliest traces of human life on the Indian subcontinent. Thus the South Asian Stone Age started from here. It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2003.
Bhimbetka is famous for rock painting
Bhimbetka situated in Raisen district of Madhya Pradesh is 45 km away from Bhopal. The rock paintings here are very famous. Hundreds of rock paintings have been made on the walls here, which were made by the primitive man 30,000 years ago. This picture was a means of conveying the message to the next generation.
History is related to Mahabharata period-
The history of Bhimbetka is related to the Mahabharata period. It is said that Bhima, one of the five Pandavas, used to sit here. There are a total of 760 rocks here, on which small and big paintings of all sizes have been made. By Flight- The nearest airport to Bhimbetka is Raja Bhoj Airport in Bhopal. The distance from the airport to Bhimbetka is about 45 km. You will also get cabs or taxis on rent from the airport.
By Road – If you wish, you can also go to Bhimbetka by your own vehicle. Its total distance from Bhopal is 46.3 km.
