Jhandewala Mandir located in Karol Bagh, capital Delhi is a Siddhapeeth dedicated to Jhandewala Devi. Due to its religious and historical importance, the state government has included this temple of Mata in the famous sightseeing places of Delhi. Know how old is the history of the temple
The history of Jhandewala Devi Temple is about 200 years old. At the place where the temple is located today, there used to be lush green hills and dense forests of Aravali. The idol of the mother in this temple is present in octagonal shape. There is also a cave here, where the original idol of the mother can be seen. (pic – jhandewalamandir.org )
The place where the idol found during excavation is installed is known as Gufa Wali Mata. During the excavation, the idol of Gufa Wali Mata was broken, after which silver hands have been installed in place of her hands. Let us tell you, the idol of Mata is being worshipped with full rituals.
It is believed that the main idol of Maa Jhandewaali which was found during excavation is present in the cave below and just behind it is a Shivlinga which was found during excavation along with the idol.
According to the official website of the temple, during Navratri, the temple opens at 4:00 am. The queue of devotees starts to form and the temple closes at 12:00 midnight. However, the temple is cleaned from 6:15 pm to 7:00 pm, during which it remains closed.
During Navratri, Shringar Aarti is performed at 4:00 am and 7:00 pm in Jhandewala Devi Temple. On other days, the schedule of Aarti is as follows.
Mangala Aarti time – 6:00 am
Shringar Aarti time – 9:00 am
Bhog Aarti time – 12:00 noon
Sandhya Aarti time – 7:30 pm
Shayan Aarti time – 10:00 pm
As we told you above that Jhandewali Mata Mandir is located in New Delhi. Therefore, devotees living outside Delhi will have to come to Delhi first to visit the Mata Mandir. For devotees living in or around Delhi, the best mode of transport is the metro. The nearest metro station is Jhandewalan Metro Station.
The temple is located at a distance of one kilometer from the metro station. Apart from this, you can use DTC buses to reach here. Please note, you will have to take the bus to Jhandewala Road.
