Many of you may have visited the court of Mata Vaishno Devi a thousand times, but have you ever been stopped or interrupted regarding your clothes? Probably not, but it could happen to you now. Yes, necessary rules have been implemented for the devotees of Vaishno Devi, now devotees will go to Vaishno Devi temple in Katra, Jammu in dress code for worship and darshan. Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board has advised the devotees of the Goddess to come to the court of Mata Vaishno wearing decent clothes. A notification related to dress code has been issued by the temple administration. Let us know what rules have been implemented by the temple administration.
Have to wear this before the temple
The temple administration said that every devotee coming to the temple of Mata Vaishno Devi will have to wear decent clothes. Women have been advised to wear saree, they will not be allowed to enter the temple wearing short clothes like Bermuda, T-shirt, night suit etc. Those arriving wearing such clothes will not be included in the darshan and aarti. This dress code will be strictly enforced.
Dress code instructions are old
Actually, these rules related to dress code are quite old, but the temple administration is now making it mandatory. The administration says that this step has been taken considering the sanctity and dignity of the temple. Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board administration is going to be strict on its old instructions from Navratri. For awareness, boards have been put up at various places and announcements regarding dress code are also being made.
Devotees will get fruits during Navratri
Shardiya Navratri has started, it will continue till 24 October 2023. 9 forms of Goddess Durga are worshiped on 9 days of Navratri. During Navratri, some people keep fast on the first and last day, while some keep fast for the entire 9 days. This time, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board has made special arrangements for the devotees who observe fast throughout Navratri. Devotees will be given free fruits in langar on every yatra route. This facility will be in Tarakot site, Sanjhi Chhat area and Bhairav temple complex.
How to reach Vaishno Devi
By Air: Located at a distance of 50 km, Jammu Airport is the nearest airport to Katra. Jammu is well connected to major airports of India. It is easy to get a cab from Jammu airport to Katra, as cabs are easily available from here.
By Bus: Jammu and Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation buses run from Jammu to Katra at regular intervals. AC private deluxe buses and taxis are also available from Jammu to Katra.
By Train: Nearest railway station to Katra is Udhampur Railway Station. Taxi and cab services are available from the railway station to Katra.
