Eid-ul-Azha is the festival of sacrifice and is celebrated by Muslims all over the world on the tenth day of Dhu al-Hijjah. It is one of the two Eid festivals and is widely celebrated in India. Eid-ul-Azha is a major festival of the Muslim community, which commemorates the sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim. He was even ready to sacrifice his son Ismail to prove his loyalty to Allah. 1) Jama Masjid, Delhi:
This is probably one of the most famous mosque in India, which has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. It was built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. Shah Jahan was fond of architecture. The mosque has been declared a national heritage site by the government and has become a major tourist destination in India. The big dome of this mosque is visible from miles away. Talking about the structure of the mosque, it has four domes and it is situated on a high place, where many steps have to be climbed to reach it. This mosque has been renovated several times since its construction and now it looks like a beautiful piece of architecture. Every year during Eid-ul-Azha, a huge crowd throngs the Jama Masjid.
2) Haji Ali, Mumbai:
Haji Ali Dargah is one of the most famous Islamic religious places in India. Thousands of people reach here every day. Whereas, on the auspicious occasion of Bakrid, there seems to be an influx of complaints here. It is also known as Haji Ali Shahi Mosque, which is situated in the middle of the sea. This mosque was built by Sufi saint Haji Ali Shah. The architecture of this mosque is very interesting and it has been built to pay homage to Islam. There are many different types of architecture inside the place including Persian, Mughal and European styles. It also has a large dome, which is made of marble stones and wood.
3) Dargah Sharif, Ajmer:
Dargah Sharif is one of the famous landmarks of Ajmer city. It is one of the most visited places in Rajasthan. The Dargah Sharif is dedicated to Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti. The place is full of history and has many relics from the time when it was built. This mosque is seen at the top of the city, which can be seen from miles away. All Muslims visiting this place should proceed to Dargah Sharif for prayers and offer prayers there as it is considered one of the holiest places for Muslims.
4) Bara Imambara, Lucknow:
Bara Imambara is one of the most famous mosques in India. It is also known as Nizam-e-Adli, located in Lucknow, the city of Nawabs. The mosque was built by Nawab Asaf-ud-Daula and named after him. The architecture of Bada Imambara is very beautiful and it has a lot of historical importance too. The Bara Imambara is considered to be the largest unsupported structure in India and is counted among the most stunning architectural beauty in India. Its construction took 14 years to complete. The entire building is made of Lucknowi bricks and lime plaster and no wood or metal was used during its construction.
5) Hazratbal Dargah, Srinagar:
Hazratbal Dargah is a famous pilgrimage center for Muslims, located on the banks of Dal Lake in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. This mosque is one of the most important mosques in Kashmir and is visited by thousands of people every year. The Hazratbal Mosque has a dome and a minaret. The mosque houses a relic called the Moi-e-Muqaddas, which is believed to be the hair of the Prophet Muhammad.
